Book Crate Unboxing – Book Boyfriend Box (April 2017)

Book Boyfriend Box is a bimonthly YA subscription box that comes packed with all the

circle_logo_2-Recovered_copy-2.pngbookish goods a crazy book nerd–much like myself–could need.

And I should mention they rarely disappoint.

April’s quite appropriate theme was Beauty and the Beast, and it featured more than five bookish goods, including a full-sized Funko Pop! Vinyl, which, if you’re a book nerd, is about the second greatest thing to find in a book crate, behind only a brand new YA hardcover itself.

In April’s crate we got:

Depending on your crate, you either got Belle or the beast. Obviously, I got pretty little Belle, and I have to say, being a Funko lover, it’s nice that Belle doesn’t have baby feet that don’t work as normal feet, thus she hasn’t fallen off my bookcase yet.

This candle smells like watermelon. It’s heaven. It’s summer. It’s Florida lunchtime on the beach. (ignore me)

  • Tale as Old as Time Eyeshadow from Printcess

This shit got all over my fingers, so I’m going to go ahead and say I’m not a fan.

I rarely get excited about the books I find in YA crates. I’m not a fantasy lover, and have never been into fairytales like Beauty and the Beast. I also don’t much like retellings. So, I don’t have much to offer in the way of this book other than the theme of this crate was spot on.

Beauty knows the Beast’s forest in her bones—and in her blood. After all, her father is the only hunter who’s ever come close to discovering its secrets. So when her father loses his fortune and moves Yeva and her sisters out of their comfortable home among the aristocracy and back to the outskirts of town, Yeva is secretly relieved. Out in the wilderness, there’s no pressure to make idle chatter with vapid baronessas…or to submit to marrying a wealthy gentleman. But Yeva’s father’s misfortune may have cost him his mind, and when he goes missing in the woods, Yeva sets her sights on one prey: the creature he’d been obsessively tracking just before his disappearance. The Beast.

Deaf to her sisters’ protests, Yeva hunts this strange creature back into his own territory—a cursed valley, a ruined castle, and a world of magical creatures that Yeva’s only heard about in fairy tales. A world that can bring her ruin, or salvation. Who will survive: the Beauty, or the Beast?

June’s theme is Drama & Dating, and will feature items inspired by Fangirl, A Fault in Our Stars, Eleanor and Park, and Harry Potter
