Book Crate Unboxing – Book of the Month Club (November 2016)

Just cradling my children in my arms.

Honestly, I have no self-control. If I did, I wouldn’t always end up with like 75 books of the month. I just can’t help myself and it’s an honest to god issue. I need to go to book rehab or something.

I love Book of the Month Club. I’m currently reading one of the selections from September, Behold the Dreamers, and still formulating a solid opinion, though I would go so far as to say, I’m learning something, which is always good. Books that make me think are the best books in my opinion.

This month’s box came with a Book of the Month magnet, as every month, the crate comes with some sort of accessory baring the BOTM logo as well as a bookmark with an explanation from judge who selected your book of the month about why she picked it as her title.

They also have alternating celebrity judges, which is just fun. I’m sort of dreaming of picking a title for them one month. My first month with them Allison Williams–AKA Peter Pan Live–was their guest judge.

This month I selected:

  1. Every Man a Menace by Patrick Hoffman
  2. Nicotine by Nell Zink
  3. The Trespasser by Tana French

Reading a good book offers the rush of a good smoke at half the price of a carton of cigarettes, and with none of the associated health risks.

JUDGE
NINA SANKOVITCH

The drug known as “Molly” unites all of the characters, whether they are snorting it, selling it, stealing it, or getting killed for it.

JUDGE
SARAH WEINMAN

An intricately-plotted thriller and a love letter to strong-willed women.

JUDGE
GABY DUNN

I’m planning on reading Nicotine first. I love the cover–that’s only PART of the reason though… I promise ;).
