The Last Bookstore – Los Angeles, CA

I know, I know, how cool does this place look?

Right in the middle of downtown, this bookstore, which is really more like an art gallery, attracts so many people, you aren’t allowed to bring backpacks in. It has a full security team filtering everyone in and out, and they check your receipts like you’re at a Costco. It’s insane.

It’s a totally cool place, but it’s hot. They have a couple of fans, but nothing to battle the LA heat. So everyone is sweating, climbing upstairs to see all the sculptures made out of books and trying to read the back flaps of novels.

But the modern and young adult fiction sections were so lame, I only left with one book.

So I guess what I’m saying is, go to see it, but don’t plan on adding to your library. It’s too hot to think in there, they take your stuff away at the door like you’re a prison inmate, and you won’t find any new hard covers for under $25.
